Meet nishia t Slater

Nishia Slater was awarded the HerStory Award at the National HerStory Award launch of the Global Women’s Peace Network on February 26, 2022, for her exemplary journey of overcoming unimaginable obstacles and using her life lessons to help many more women become empowered through her work.

Even though she grew up in poverty in the early 80’s and 90’s, she did not allow that to stop her.

As she continued through her life journey, she has been able to turn her pain into her passion. It has always been her passion to help others since she was a little girl. At the age of 14 she became pregnant and dropped out of high school, she had to educate herself and is self-taught on a lot of topics.

She came from a family of 7 and felt she was not aware of the opportunities that she had in front of her, those adversities and obstacles were used as stepping stones in her life. She grew up feeling alone and sheltered. At times, she often wondered if anyone loved her because she knew she didn’t know or understand how to love herself.

Considering she always wanted what was best for her, she learned how to turn her hurt, anger, and pain into her life’s work.

Since she went on her self-discovery journey in 2017, she has transformed her life. There was a huge focus on self-love, self-care, and understanding her worth. Ever since she started her journey, her mindset began to shift and in 2020, she opened her Coaching and Consulting business. With her heart on her sleeve, she knew she could be an impact to other women and help them to transform their lives. She didn’t stop there, she became a published author, professional speaker, mentor, and facilitator. Being featured on podcasts, speaking at schools, facilitating workshops, newsletters, magazines, interviews and a host of other projects has been the beginning of her journey and she knows there is more work to do.

During her alone time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Dancing is therapeutic to her and she loves dancing. She loves to travel and sightsee. If you are looking for her, you could find her somewhere enjoying her life with a smile on her face. Her goal is to travel the world speaking at schools and organizations on how to transform their lives and be the people they are called to be.

This journey has taught her to be the change she wants to see in this world.
